Yes. This is Seoul!
To communicate two most significant values of Seoul, ‘development’ and ‘efficiency’, I produced a book with two stories. This book is on sale at an independent publisher book store in Seoul.

Change in the Symbol of Seoul. 1947-2009
The original symbol of Seoul was replaced with a new symbol in 1990 for being too out of style. The replacement was sudden and had no connection with the history or Eastern philosophy. What if the original symbol was modified and had evolved along with the changes of this city? I created a fake documentary of the symbol. The summary of Seoul’s identity in the rapid ‘development’ is presented in this documentary.
The Riverside of Seoul
I chose the riverside of Han River to visualize the ‘efficiency’ of Seoul. Strange enough, “Riverside” refers to “Riverside highway” in Seoul. To relieve traffic congestion, the city constructed huge highways on both sides of Han River in 1990. The ten-lane road solved traffic efficiently, but the citizen had to renounce beautiful riverside scenery. The citizen soon got used to shortening the “Riverside ten-lane highway” into “the Riverside”, as it was efficient.
